Riding Mountain National Park sits near the western-most part of Manitoba, easily accessed by car while travelling major highways. Find it just three hours west of Winnipeg, one hour north from Brandon, and one hour south from Dauphin.

National park passes (motor vehicle permits) are required to enter the park and can be purchased at the park gates during regular office hours. Unless you jump on the shuttle from Brandon which is a great way to start a wonderful weekend, let someone else to the driving.

April begins the season for most of the local businesses. Things to do in April include resting and relaxing at one of the many accommodations. Enjoy a puzzle, board game or finally find uninterrupted time to read that book you started before Christmas. Layer up, sweaters hat and mittens to hike the many trails, be sure to bring your camera to capture the breathtaking scenes nature has to offer. Hot chocolate by the campfire and smores are definitely on the to-do list.
