Celebrate Hot Tea Month
Celebrate Hot Tea Month
January is national hot tea month, there's nothing quite like a good cup of tea. A wonderful way to create a good start to your day, this week, month or year. Whether you have promised yourself to drink more tea for health reasons or are just in the mood for something cozy and comforting.
Here are five ways to celebrate tea all month long!
Find a new favorite tea
Whether you're just starting to explore tea or already a dedicated tea drinker, January is a great time to find a new favorite tea blend to enjoy! From brisk black teas to meditative matcha and everything in between, there are plenty of options to choose from.
All “true” tea is made from the same plant, camellia sinensis, including black, green, white, oolong, and pu-erh teas. The way these teas are grown and processed determine their unique characteristics and flavor profiles. It is all quite fascinating the process to grow, harvest and process the tea leaves. Where the plant grows, elevations, season the leaves are harvested, time of day all influence the end taste. Fascinating.
There are also plenty of different kinds of caffeine-free herbal infusions, we should call these “tisanes” not tea.

Make a frothy, delicious tea latte at home
Tea lattes are a sweet, indulgent treat! Like coffee-based lattes, they’re made by adding steamed, frothed milk and sweetener to a tea base. Some popular versions of tea lattes include matcha lattes, chai lattes, London fog lattes.
Lattes can seem intimidating to make at home, but trust me, they are simple! All you need is good quality tea, milk, and a sweetener of your choice. Practise to get comfortable with the few easy steps and you will be able to create delicious tea lattes on demand whenever you must satisfy a craving. While tea lattes are simple at their core, they’re also fun to experiment with, so feel free to play around with different variations until you find your favorite!

Try cooking or baking with tea
Tea is delicious on its own, but can also be used when cooking or baking? The tearoom kitchen has begun a collection of tea recipes.
Would you like me to share a few in the coming weeks to help you celebrate National Hot Tea Month?
Learn more about tea history and culture
Tea has been enjoyed by humans for hundreds of years, and there's a rich culture surrounding tea in many areas of the world. From a classic British cuppa, to Japan's matcha tea ceremony, to China's gongfu cha brewing method, to the many types of milk tea and boba enjoyed throughout Asia and beyond, there's always something new to learn and experience when it comes to tea.
I do have a wonderful book entitled “All about Tea” that I would be willing to let you borrow it you wanted a really interesting read.
Oh so very much to learn. I have an amazon cart full of tea related books that I would really enjoy reading. How about you do you have a favourite tea related book?
Share a cup of tea with a friend
Tea is wonderful when savored on its own, but there's something special about a cup of tea shared with a friend or loved one. Grab some friends and a favorite tea or two and ring in the new year, celebrate National Tea Month with a tea party!
Join me Friday January 19 for “Tea with Friends”. We will be sampling scones with different scones cream recipes to help decide which is a favourite. I will be sourcing local preserves to go with those scones. Are you team Devonshire or a Cornwall when it comes to the cream and jam on your scones?
I shall raise my cup to my Dragonfly Delights Tearoom community and wish you all health and happiness in the New Year!
This blog was inspired by my reading on the world wide web, as I continue to research National Hot Tea Month and everything tea related.
I visited these web pages while reading today Artful Tea, Pluck Tea, The Cup of Life and more.
It is my wish that you are exploring tea in a new and different way this month to honour National Hot Tea Month.
Happy Day!
