Self Care Sunday
Self Care Sunday
I am so sorry to have not made the time to connect with you last week. I allowed other household and business responsibilities to consume me. But that is ok because by doing those things all day Sunday set myself up to have a better week and isn’t that what self care is all about. Taking care of you first. By choosing to work on and in my home responsibilities, sewing business and other tea related tasks on Sunday and not post a self care thought I had a less stress filled week.
I missed this time but I am so very happy that my week went well. How was your week?
I have discovered podcasts. I began listening back in 2018 when I found Christy Wright’s Business Boutique. I was rebuilding a sewing business that I had shut down to take care of the wee grand daughter. I had big plans to work on it and in it more effectively when I re-opened. I learned so much from reading the book. I cleaned up and cleared out some unessential items, habits and practises. That summer I attended Global Market selling off inventory and stock that I had been holding onto. The cash from selling all that really, really great stuff went directly to the cost of attending Business Boutique conference in Nashville Tennessee autumn 2018.
Crazy thing, while learning how to rebuild what was a successful sewing business I also saw how I could begin my Tearoom dream. The concept is, start with what you have, what you know, where you are. So that is what I did February 9th 2019 my first teatime event. It was held in my home for friends, neighbours and family.
How the business has evolved from the first concept to where it is today and how I have grown. The old self lacked self image and self confidence. Through much reading, stepping out of my comfort zone and intentional decisions I am becoming a much more confident me.
A podcast that I especially liked explained confidence, breaking it down to spirit, mind, body, relationships and resources. I enjoyed this podcast so much I have listened to it more than once. I listen while I am working in the sewing studio. I always have paper and pencil close to take notes as the information is so very powerful.
I am including the link below for you. Please if you listen do let me know what you think.
I would like to put together a group of 10 or so ladies who own or would like to start a business. I am supporter of “cottage industry” what was once a fading thing has been brought back by this pandemic. So, if in the last year you started knitting and selling, baking and selling, helping others with bookkeeping or whatever, and you would like to join forces with other female entrepreneurs contact me. If you already had a business growing before Covid you are of course most welcome to join in as well. There is strength in numbers. Let’s build each other up.
Today on this Self Care Sunday please do something that will set you up for success in days to come. For each of us it will be something different. For me last week it was unfortunately not connecting with you. I am glad to be back this week to share my thoughts with you.
My photo for this blog post is of the sweets offered at that very first every Teatime event that Dragonfly Delights Tearoom hosted back on February 9th, 2019.
Enjoy the week.
